Sir David Frost was joined this week by the leader of the interim government in Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, the Labour Party Chairman, Charles Clarke, the former Shadow Foreign Secretary, Francis Maude, and Anne Owers - the new head of the Prison Service in England Wales. He also spoke to Dr Adrian Whiteson and The Who's Roger Daltrey on the subject of raising money for teenage victims of cancer.

Yasmin Alibhai-brown and Sir Tim Rice reviewed the papers.

Charles Clarke accepted that there was disagreement with the unions about about Labour's policy of greater private sector involvement in the public services. Hamid Karzai spoke about his wish for the international peace keeping force in Afghanistan to be expanded. Francis Maude spoke about the launch of his new think tank, Policy Exchange, to look at ideas for modernising the Conservative Party. Anne Owers welcomed new proposals from the Home Secretary to overhaul the prison system, which include introducing special prison hostels, which would allow some non-violent criminals to carry on working while serving their sentences
