| ![]() Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith Sunday 20th January on BBC One Sir David Frost was joined this week by the Leader of the Opposition Iain Duncan Smith MP, the Commander of the International Peace Keeping Force in Afghanistan Major-General John McColl, the former Foreign Office Minister Tony Lloyd MP and Reza Pahlavi the son of the late Shah of Iran. In his interview Iain Duncan Smith spoke about how keen he is to see his party become more representative. He said he didn't want to set quotas but would like to see more women becoming MPs. He was challenged about his plans on tax and spend and argued that it is possible to reduce taxation without cutting spending. On the day that British troops are setting off for Afghanistan the Commander of the International Peace Keeping Force Major-General John McColl spoke about the danger that is attached to the mission and the need to be sensitive to Muslim sensibilities. The Labour MP and former Foreign Office Minister Tony Lloyd spoke of his concern about the treatment of Al-Qaeda prisoners at camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay. And Reza Pahlavi the son of the late Shah of Iran spoke of his hopes to reform Iran. He has been in exile since the 1979 revolution.
