On this week's programme, William Hague's former Press Secretary, Amanda Platell, defended her decision to record a secret video diary during the General Election Campaign. She told Sir David that she had seen treachery against William Hague during the campaign - and singled out supporters of Michael Portillo as responsible.

Michael Portillo supporter Steven Norris, the Conservative Party Vice Chairman, rubbished Ms Platell's allegations. Meanwhile Sir Teddy Taylor backed Iain Duncan Smith for the Conservative leadership.

Shadow Home Secretary, Ann Widdecombe firmly backed Ken Clarke for the Conservative leadership.

Sacked Select Committee Chairmen Gwyneth Dunwoody and Donald Anderson called on their Labour collegues to "assert their rights" and vote them back into their jobs next week.

The Education Secretary, Estelle Morris, told Sir David that next week's White Paper on Secondary Schools is to be delayed until the autumn.
