Body beautiful?
Radio 1's body image survey
Radio 1 asked 25,000 people how they felt about their bodies
More than half of young women would consider surgery to improve their looks.

That's just one of the findings of a survey carried out by the Radio 1 programme Newsbeat, and 1Xtra's TXU.

And a third of those surveyed, who are size 12 think they are overweight the survey suggests.

  • Breakfast had more on this throughout Tuesday's programme
  • The Radio 1 survey asked 25,000 people between the ages of 17 to 35 how they felt about themselves.

But the survey wasn't just confined to men - of those who took part in the survey, many said they felt pressure to look good.

More than 20% of female respondents said that they were on a diet, compared with fewer than 10% of men.

Today's survey coincides with the debate over the use of size zero (or UK size four) models on the catwalk and in fashion shoots.
