Haddon: children force you to stop wasting time |
Written from the perspective of an autistic teenager, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night was one of the surprise literary successes of the last few years. The book sold more than 10m copies - and, perhaps because of its deceptively simple style - it's become almost as popular with children as with adults.
Now, the author Mark Haddon has published his first volume of poetry. The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea takes him back to the place where he first started, in writing terms.
He came in to the Breakfast studio this morning, to tell us more. He began by reading us one of his poems - a fast-forward view of the world, from outer space.
