Following Saturday's earthquake which struck India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, we've put together some information on the various agencies involved in the aid effort, how you can find out about relatives, and other useful contact numbers and links

As the situation develops in Pakistan, we will be updating this page with as much new information as possible, and we recommend you bookmark it.


  • Thursday 13 October: Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal
    The DEC - which co-ordinates charity responses to major disasters - will launch an appeal tonight for the Asia earthquake. You can donate:

    The DEC appeal co-ordinates 13 major charities working in the area: World Vision, Tearfund, Save the Children, Oxfam, Merlin, Help the Aged, Islamic Relief, Concern, Care, Christian Aid, Cafod, British Red Cross, ActionAid.

    It accepts cash gifts only.

    If you'd like to donate other gifts, such as clothes or tents, you could try our listings for smaller charities; or you could try organisation called Globalhand.org, which matches gifts with those in need around the world. Email: [email protected].
