The Incredibles: mid-life crisis for superheroes | In all the best films, superheroes fly the skies of big cities, skirting skyscrapers and plucking innocent victims from the jaws of evil monsters. But what if the victim doesn't want to be saved? And what if our her takes early retirement, to drab suburbia? That's the plot device of the latest film from the makers of Toy Story. It's called The Incredibles - and it features a family of superheroes - Bob and Helen Incredible - who now live an ordinary life. Breakfast talked to Brad Bird, the writer and director of the Incredibles. He told us how the idea of mid-life crisis had provided the inspiration for The Incredibles - and how his temporary "voice" for one of the characters was allowed to stay in the final cut. The Incredibles opens across the UK on 19 November.
