No-one seemed more surprised than Alex Parks herself when she won the top prize in the BBC's Fame Academy.

Now, the 19 year old from Cornwall is signed to a record company and is releasing her first single.

For nine weeks at Fame Academy, Alex impressed the judges with her talents and became the bookies favourite to win, despite her own lack of self confidence.

The notoriously difficult to please headmaster, Richard Park, confessed to being deeply moved by her performances - and four and a half million people voted for her in the final, last month.

So, what's happened to Alex since then?

  • Breakfast found out from Alex this morning that the chance to make music is worth more than the champagne lifestyle which goes with being a Fame Academy winner.
