Noel Edmonds who returns to radio this summer |
The last time he presented a regular Radio show was 25 years ago. It's 20 years almost to the month since he left Radio 1. But for just 8 weeks this summer, Noel Edmonds returns to his radio roots.
Noel Edmonds' radio career began in 1968 at Radio Luxembourg.
In 1969 he began a long-standing association with the BBC - first in radio where he made his name hosting the Breakfast Show for Radio 1, and then in television - where for many years he balanced presenting on both media.
Noel's love of music led him to open a record shop in London's Kings Road in the early Seventies. This was the first of many business ventures which have included the formation of a highly successful independent production company.
Noel feels his return is bitter sweet because of Johnny Walker's illness - he is covering for the DJ Johnny Walker who is being treated for cancer.

Noel says his return to broadcasting is definetly a temporary move.

And he says it's very strange being back - and terrifying at same time.
That's because of the new technology - "It's like the Wright Brothers being asked to fly concorde - I understand the concept but have no idea how it works."
Since leaving the BBC Noel has had a hugely successful independent production company - called Unique.
Via Unique Production he has been making programmes, for example the British Comedy awards for ITV and Pick of the Pops for Radio 2,
But as far as being on-air is concerned, Noel says he's surprised by how excited he is. It has shown him there's still a spark inside him that would like to be ignited.
Noel Edmonds is on BBC Radio 2, 5.05-7.00pm, from August 4 to October 3.
