It promises to be a "dazzling jewel" - so says the publicity for a massive new holiday resort on Cornwall's coast.

But with building starting imminently on over 500 apartments some are dubbing it the "Costa Brava" of the South coast.

Breakfast's Luisa Baldini is there this morning.

Luisa heard very different views, from those against, and those in favour of the new development.

From the tourist office, Malcolm Bell said the development met the approval of the tourism bosses because it helped to solve the problem of people pushing up housing prices in Cornwall as they buy holiday homes there.

People wan tot buy in to Cornwall and what we're facing is people buying into the existing housing stock and causing problems with affordable housing
Malcolm Bell, South West Tourism

For Mr Bell, the attraction of the development, is that it attracts visitors, enables them to buy a holiday home and only affects the local population in a positive way by providing jobs.

But some residents are opposed to the holiday homes.

Mark Frazer feels that its out of character with the area.

Cornwall depends on it snatural beauty, its mystery, its wildness...building over beaches is like shooting yoursel fin the foot
Mark Frazer, Carlyon Bay Watch

He says that the building will destroy too much of the beach.
