Coalition commanders are anxious to stress that the fighting in Iraq isn't finished yet - but it does seem that with most of the country now in British and US hands, the war has effectively been won.
But: has the coalition achieved what it set out to do?
This morning, on Breakfast, we debated that question, with journalists Matthew Parris and William Shawcross For Parris, the ends have not justified the means: the war has not been worth it.
But, for William Shawcross, the victory over Saddam has imposed order on a country suffering from chaos and genocide.
