| Basra on the brink ![]() A British Challenger tank operating in Basra Nearly a week into the war in Iraq, the pace of events seems to be speeding up. With reports of an uprising against Saddam in Iraq's second city, Basra, and renewed overnight bombing in Baghdad, we may be approaching the endgame of the war in Iraq.
This morning, Breakfast brought you all the latest developments, in Iraq and beyond. To make sense of it all, we enlisted the help of Air Marshal Sir Timothy Garden, who's a former Assistant Chief of Air Staff. "We are now into set piece battles where the advantage to the coalition is such that our superior air power means we will win the battle," he told us.
Not all the British troops in the Gulf have seen military action yet. For some, the war is unfolding on TV, just as it does for us at home. Breakfast's Jane O'Brien went to see how British troops in Kuwait are coping with the waiting game. The 200,000 Iraqis living in Britain, are following the progress of the war minute by minute. Many have fled Saddam Hussein's regime, but they still have family and friends in Baghdad and beyond. Graham Satchell went to find out what the British Iraqi community makes of the war in Iraq.
