Iraq: a question of oil?
Despite the UN's involvement, it seems that America and Iraq are still on a collision course.

Many of you have e-mailed us to ask exactly what's behind the looming conflict - and what it'll mean for all of us.

Today, we looked at one recurrent theme in your e-mails: does it boil down to a question of oil?

  • We sent Breakfast reporter Graham Satchell to investigate the oil conspiracy theory.


  • And, we debated the question of oil live in the studio with the MP Jeremy Corbyn and the former aide to Bill Clinton, James Rubin.

    "What people really need to understand," James Rubin told us "is that after September 11, America's psychology has changed.

    "This is about weapons of mass destruction. It's about the fact that Saddam Hussein may have vast quantities of those weapons and some day, somehow, they will be used against us."

    Jeremy Corbyn believes that oil supplies are crucial to the Iraq crisis.

    "There's no conclusive proof about weapons of mass destruction, " he told us.

    "I believe that the motives are largely to do with oil.

    "There's no support in the region for an attack on Iraq, except from Israel," he said
