Gaby at the movies
Join Gaby Roslin from Monday September 23
Join Gaby Roslin at the movies this week, when we'll be celebrating the best of British movie talent, both on screen and off.

All week, Gaby and friends will be broadcasting live from the National Film Theatre, on London's South Bank, which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.

We have a star-studded cast lined up - and we want you to join in too.

Tell us about your favourite British films, either by e-mail or through our helpline number. You could win a BFI bumper pack of film classics. For more details look below at the competition details.

We'll gather all your suggestions together - and we'll put the most popular to an online vote, towards the end of next week.

Monday's menu

  • We talked to actor Pete Postlethwaite about his latest role, Scaramouche Jones.

  • We also met two of the team who make up The League of Gentlemen, surely the most macarbre sitcom ever to appear on British TV.

  • And we have a very special prize to give away this week. To mark the NFT's Golden Jubilee we're offering an NFT Gold Pass, valid for one year as well as a special NFT 50 T-shirt and book. When you call us with your answer, we'll also be asking you to cast your vote for the film that you think is the Best British Film ever. At the end of the week, we'll be drawing another name out of the hat. The lucky viewer will get a BFI bumper pack of film classics, guaranteed to turn anyone into an instant film buff. But now for today's question: British screen legend, Michael Caine is one of the NFT's longest serving members. What was his real name?

    A. Archibald Leach B. Marion Morrison C. Roy Scherer D. Maurice Micklewhite

The number is 08700 109 771. Lines will be open until midday today and will cost about the same as a second class stamp.

Join Gaby at the movies from Monday September 23, on Breakfast on BBC One only, from 8.35am to 9.15
