On Breakfast this morning, we talked Jane Tomlinson.

She's a 38 year old mother of three who's suffering from terminal cancer - and this weekend, she completed the London triathlon for charity. She's also run the London Marathon.

Jane talked to us from her home near Leeds

Jane started running only in May last year. She said the swim-cycle-run circuit around the Excel Arena in east London had left her tired but elated.

"It was tough in a different way from the marathon," Jane told Breakfast this morning.

"The triathlon is fun because you switch between events - but it's very hard work."

The first few minutes of the event were probably the worst, she says: "For the first 300m of the swimming, I thought I can't keep going."

Despite suffering from stomach cramps during the road race, Jane beat half the women competitors in her age group and now has her sights set on the Great North Run in Newcastle in October.

She has spent the last two-and-a-half months training six days a week in preparation of the triathlon.

After completing the event, she said: "It was really hard work, but I enjoyed myself."

London Triathlon marketing manager Nick Rusling said Tomlinson's final placing at the middle of her field of 3,400 was "pretty impressive, amazing".

Tomlinson, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago and who now has cancer of the lungs and bones, wanted to compete to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

She hoped to raise more than �5,000 for the charity.

Speaking of her plans to run in October, she said: "My health is deteriorating and I'm due to start chemotherapy in September - so it depends on how well I am with that."

Tomlinson won the Overall Winner Award at the Women of Achievement Awards in Leeds in May in recognition of her courage in running the London Marathon.
