Jenny Raworth had a beautiful garden in London. The flowers attracted bees. With pollution levels in the countryside causing a decline in bee numbers, she was able to keep hives in her city garden. The bee keepers obviously needed lots of protection - though Sophie doesn't seem too troubled by the presence of thousands of bees in her garden. In fact that summer honey production in the countryside was in decline, while Jenny's bees were thriving.
Jenny's bees had just appeared in her garden one morning - she found the swarm near her back gate. She called a friend who told her what to do next and that was the start of Raworth honey. Perhaps that Nationwide report influenced Sophie's choice of career. |
