| What is Breakfast? ![]() It's a live three hour programme which starts at 6 in the morning and ends at 9. It provides the daily news service, some entertainment, and showbiz news. It also gives a business and sports round up. Richard Porter, the programme editor says:
Who makes Breakfast? The programme is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week. The producers work on a day and night rota. Shifts are mainly 12 hours long. The Day team decide on what stories the programme should do.
The day team would then put the calls out to get the right cast list for the programme The night team come on at 9pm. They put together the nuts and bolts of the programme. They edit the stories with a team of night editors.
The presenters come in at 4am. They go through the briefs for all the lives of the programme. When there's a breaking story it can be especially challenging, as producers have to work fast in phoning the right guests. So what is Breakfast's mission statement? Richard Porter, programme editor says
