| Thursday, 18 July, 2002, 15:30 GMT 16:30 UK Sex lessons ![]() Sally Magnusson asks whether Britain can learn from Britney Spears, and encourage our children to say "no" to sex. It is argued that one of the main reasons our youngsters top the league for teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections is the contradictory messages they are given about sex. 4x4 goes to America where the "just say no" message is now taught in many mainstream schools. Pupils in the US are encouraged to make a public pledge to abstain from sex. 'On the pull' The rates of sexually transmitted infections in young people have doubled in the past five years. Navdip Dhariwal talks to a teenage victim who bitterly regrets his one night stand. She joins three teenage girls on a night out "on the pull" in London to try and discover why infections are rocketing. Some of the girls admit to taking risks and the gaps in their knowledge about the diseases highlight the huge problem amongst teenagers in Britain. Police protection Why are some police forces failing to enforce the legal age of consent? Vanessa Collingridge meets a father who is living every parent's nightmare. He discovered his 14-year-old daughter was having sex with a man more than twice her age. Both parties admitted having sex but the police said they could do nothing. The girl's father has spent the past two years fighting to protect her. The government is planning to review the Sexual Offences Act but does the law need to be strengthened or are existing powers simply not being used? Young mums Catherine Marston joins teenage mums going back to the classroom. Britain has the highest number of teenage pregnancies in Western Europe. The latest figures show that eight 11-year-olds gave birth in one year. Young mothers are getting a second chance in life, thanks to special units which double as a nursery and a school. 4x4 Reports is on BBC 1 at 1930 BST on Monday 15 July and streamed live from this website.
