Former IAEA chief ElBaradei rejects new Iran sanctions

The former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed ElBaradei, says he doesn't think tougher sanctions will change Iranian nuclear policy.

His comments come as members of the UN Security Council discuss a new round of sanctions against Iran over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment.

Earlier, Iran's president unveiled new "third-generation" centrifuges that its nuclear chief says can enrich uranium much faster than current technology.

Speaking to the BBC's Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen, Mr ElBaradei said the timing was wrong for sanctions.
