President Obama has said he is "deeply troubled" by the situation in Iran, where tens of thousands of opposition supporters have called for fresh elections.
The protesters took to the streets of Tehran for a third day since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared winner of the presidential election.
The protests were largely peaceful but at least one person was confirmed dead.
