There have been scuffles between Israeli police and Arab residents in the northern Israeli town of Umm El-Fahm, over the demands of right-wing Israeli party supporters to observe voting there.
Right-wing settler Baruch Marzel of the National Union party was planning to observe elections in the town, in a move that many saw as provocative. The Israeli constitution allows for all the different parties to send observers to polling stations of their choosing.
Residents and their supporters planned for Marzel's arrival by blocking the entrance to the town but were then dispersed by Israeli police with riot gear.
