Hamas on the Israeli ceasefire

Hamas has said that Israel's decision to halt its three-week offensive in Gaza was "a declaration of Israeli failure'.

Osama Hamdan, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, made his comments shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced the ceasefire.

Mr Olmert said Israel had achieved its goals and Hamas - which has been firing rockets at Israel - had been defeated.
