UN's Palestinian envoy on assault

The Palestinian observer to the UN, Riyad Mansour, has said that Israel's actions in Gaza are de-stabilising the Middle East.

The United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, has called for an immediate halt to the Israeli ground assault in Gaza.

The Security Council is holding a special, closed session meeting to discuss the Middle East crisis.
