Israeli air force jets have bombed the Islamic University in the Gaza Strip, a significant cultural symbol for Hamas.
Earlier, Israel also targeted a Hamas-run government building in Gaza City and the network of tunnels that run between Gaza and Egypt near the Rafah border crossing.
Palestinian medical staff say nearly 300 people. have been killed in the air raids over the past two days.
