Qatar Airways to sue Jordan

The Jordanian government says that Qatar Airways is planning to sue Jordan for having grounded one of its planes in Amman for two weeks last month.

The Jordanian Prime Minister, Ali Abu al-Ragheb, said that the airline was seeking $2.2 million in damages.

The incident occurred when Qatar Airways flew in an exiled Palestinian activist, Ibrahim Ghosheh.

The Jordanian authorities refused to let the plane leave unless Mr Ghosheh was on board.

Qatar Airways refused.

The stand-off was resolved when Jordan finally agreed to allow Mr Ghosheh in, after he agreed to refrain from political activity.
