The bodies of Poland's late President Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria Kaczynska lie in state in Warsaw following their deaths in a plane crash in western Russia on Saturday.
Thousands of people waited outside the presidential palace to pay their respects, as a Polish World War II-era helmet and a wooden cross marked the scene.
Earlier on Tuesday, the body of Maria Kaczynska arrived back on Polish soil, two days after that of her husband.
The couple's only child, Marta, was comforted by her father's twin brother, Jaroslaw, as she greeted her mother's coffin at Warsaw airport.
Crowds threw flowers in the path of the hearse as it took the first lady's coffin, draped with the Polish flag, through the streets of Warsaw to the presidential palace.
The first couple are due to be buried on Sunday, a day after a memorial service for all the crash victims in Warsaw.
Meanwhile, Russian and Polish experts are continuing to investigate the crash north of Smolensk in which 96 people died.
