Russia is holding a day of mourning for the 39 people killed in twin suicide bombings on Moscow's Metro system on Monday. Candles were lit during an emotional service at the city's Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
TV channels and theatres cancelled entertainment shows and flags flew at half mast, as Russians remembered the victims of the blasts at the Lubyanka and Park Kultury stations.
Inside Lubyanka station, children were among those who piled flowers underneath a memorial plaque.
At Park Kultury station, where the second explosion killed at least a dozen people, mourners gathered around more floral tributes.
Security has been stepped up as officials blamed Muslim militants from the North Caucasus for the attacks, although no group has yet said it carried them out.
US ambassador John Beyrle pays his respects at the scene of one of the attacks. US President Barack Obama has vowed to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
