Actress Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders, is to leave the BBC One soap next year. She joined the cast in 1994.
The 72-year-old runs the famous Queen Victoria pub in Albert Square. Her on-screen sons - Phil and Grant - have caused her trouble over the years.
In 2001, Queen Elizabeth II made a royal visit to the EastEnders set in Elstree, Hertfordshire, and Windsor was asked to show her round the iconic square.
In 1999, she was made an MBE in the Millennium Honours List, picking up her honour alongside Dame Shirley Bassey. The same year, Windsor also published her autobiography, All of Me.
Her character has been romantically involved with several men over the years, including Archie (left), Frank (centre) and George. All of which went wrong.
In real life, Windsor has been married three times. She wed her first husband Ronnie Knight (left) in 1964. They are pictured with gangster Reggie Kray at a film premiere.
The star has said she is leaving the BBC one soap to spend more time with her current husband, Scott Mitchell, who is 26 years younger than her.
As well as EastEnders, she is well known for starring in the Carry On films (right). She has also appeared in You Rang M'Lord? (left) and One Foot In The Grave.
This July, Windsor showed London Mayor Boris Johnson around the set and they filmed a scene together.
Peggy, the Albert Square matriarch, has endured a love/hate relationship with Pat Evans.
Earlier this year Peggy was rushed to hospital in the soap after a health scare.
Despite Windsor leaving EastEnders, her agent has insisted the actress is not retiring from showbusiness.
