Hundreds of thousands of people packed into central Havana for Cuba's biggest open-air concert since the 1959 revolution. It featured some of Latin America's best known stars.
Residents of this isolated, music-loving island were looking forward eagerly to the event.
The concert was organised by Colombian singer Juanes, who has received death threats by those who think it will help Cuba's government.
Many people used umbrellas to try to protect themselves from the intense heat...
... But several people were carried away after fainting.
The concert was held in Revolution Square, where Fidel Castro was famous for giving speeches lasting hours on end.
The concert was dubbed "Peace without Borders" but Juanes said it was not a political event. It was backed by jailed dissidents, who said it might bring reconciliation.
People were urged to wear white to symbolise peace.
More than five hours of music, played by some 15 bands from several countries, entertained the Havana crowd.
