Your pictures: Perseid meteor shower

BBC News website readers have been sending us their photos of the Perseid meteor shower. This was taken from the south coast of the Isle of Wight and also shows a satellite crossing west to east. Photo: S J Griffiths

Steve Elliott: "Taken on 11 August at around 2230 BST from Farnborough in Hampshire just before the Moon came up to wash things out."

SKnoopables: "The picture was taken just before 0300 CST in the Village of North Freedom, WI, US. I was about to shut down for the night and this ended up being my second-to-last photo before falling asleep."

Jared: "I took the photo on top of a hill in Austin, Texas, US, right off highway 360, just south of the 360 Bridge."

Steve Gifford: "Taken Tuesday evening over Haubstadt, Indiana. This meteor travelled the full length of the sky and left a trail that remained visible for several seconds."

Steve Gifford also went out on Wednesday evening and snapped this photo.

Ben: "This is the bunch of geeks with assorted cameras, laptops and unfeasibly large telescopes trying to take pictures of the Perseid meteor shower."

Matthew Harper: "I took the picture from my back garden in Kennington, London on 11 August."

Rob Aldridge: "Taken at 2330 12 August on the Alberta Prairies. Looking SE you can see a large meteor streak in the upper left and also a smaller one in the lower right. The large "star" in the centre is Mars."
