In pictures: Star Trek premiere

Simon Pegg, who wore a traditional Scottish kilt for the event, poses for a photograph with fans at the UK film premiere of Star Trek in London's Leicester Square.

Pegg, who has also starred in Hot Fuzz and Run Fatboy Run, plays engineer Scotty in the movie.

The blue carpet was rolled out for actors Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, who play Uhura and Spock in the film.

Eric Bana stars in the re-imagined story, which is based on creator Gene Roddenberry's original TV 1960's series.

The actor bumped into Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson on the blue carpet.

The movie was directed by Lost creator JJ Abrams. The film chronicles the early days of the USS Enterprise.

Film fans Lorraine Kelly and Edith Bowman went along for a sneak preview of the movie, which was officially unveiled at its world premiere in Australia last week.

Jonathan Ross took his two children along. The 11th film in the franchise, is due for release on 8 May.
