At least 23 were reported killed after shooting broke out at an anti-government rally in Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo. Warning: this gallery contains graphic images. Supporters of the sacked mayor of Antananarivo, Andry Rajoelina, marched to the palace of President Marc Ravalomanana in central Antananarivo and were dispersed with gun shots from security forces. The rally started peacefully, as supporters of Mr Rajoelina gathered in central Antananarivo. Mr Rajoelina has declared his own transitional government amid dissatisfaction with President Ravalomanana's rule. The violence broke out after the protesters marched on the presidential palace and faced off with security forces. President Ravalomanana said Mr Rajoelina had led his supporters to take control of Ambohitsorohitra Palace but lost control of them. Looting was reported at a hotel and offices near the palace. Dozens of wounded people were taken to Antananarivo's general hospital where a crowd gathered looking for information on their relatives. It is the latest outbreak of violence in Madagascar in the last several weeks, as President Ravalomanana and Mr Rajoelina wage a power struggle.
