Fifty vinyl record sleeves from 2008 have been shortlisted for the Art Vinyl prize for best cover, including the dark, swirling artwork for experimental musician Flying Lotus's album. A mixture of obscure and well-known vinyl album covers of the past year have been nominated. Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree is a captivating portrait of frontwoman Alison Goldfrapp. Art Vinyl founder Andrew Heeps says the annual prize "champions" vinyl art, while the medium is fighting back against the diminshed art of the CD inlay. The record cover of All the Girls by German DJ Siriusmo features the tongue logo synonymous with The Rolling Stones. The shortlisted record sleeves - including There Were Wolves by The Accidental - will be exhibited around the UK from the beginning of November. The winner of the fourth record cover art award will be determined by an online public vote and announced on 5 January.
