A total solar eclipse has been seen across parts of the northern hemisphere from Canada to China. BBC website readers have been sending in their pictures. Photo: Becki Parsons, Birmingham. Alex Spodkiewicz, Sheffield: "I used a digital camera with a solar filter to get my shot. The hardest part was waiting for the clouds to clear so you could actually see the eclipse." Martin Sayers, West Sussex: "My boys were interested in the eclipse for about a minute and then they went back inside to watch cartoons." Will Frawley, Basingstoke: "I took this shot through a reflection in a puddle in my back garden." Ed Llewellin, Durham: "I created this image using my old telescope and a piece of paper for my 2-year-old son to see, he thought it was fantastic." David Close, Whitley Bay, North Tyneside: "We all enjoyed the eclipse, myself, my wife and our dog Millie. We all made sure we had our solar glasses; I think Millie looked the coolest out of all of us. Peter Byass, Umea, Sweden: "I'm not a big astronomy fan but this eclipse was nice to see." Graham Boomfield, Bristol: "The eclipse was very impressive; luckily the sun came out just in time to see it." Emmett Hanna, London: "I was a bit of an astronomy buff when I was a kid. My wife bought me this telescope for Christmas to get me interested again, it came in very handy today." Photo: Umayr Sahlan Masud, Islamabad, Pakistan. You can send your images to [email protected].
