Your pictures: solar eclipse

A total solar eclipse has been seen across parts of the northern hemisphere from Canada to China. BBC website readers have been sending in their pictures. Photo: Becki Parsons, Birmingham.

Alex Spodkiewicz, Sheffield: "I used a digital camera with a solar filter to get my shot. The hardest part was waiting for the clouds to clear so you could actually see the eclipse."

Martin Sayers, West Sussex: "My boys were interested in the eclipse for about a minute and then they went back inside to watch cartoons."

Will Frawley, Basingstoke: "I took this shot through a reflection in a puddle in my back garden."

Ed Llewellin, Durham: "I created this image using my old telescope and a piece of paper for my 2-year-old son to see, he thought it was fantastic."
