Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has appeared at the UN war crimes court in the Hague after 13 years on the run. Mr Karadzic has been indicted on 11 counts of war crimes. He told the court his rights had been denied him and he would defend himself. Mr Karadzic appeared in court shorn of the long hair and bushy beard he grew while he posed as alternative doctor Dragan Dabic. Judge Alphons Orie gave Mr Karadzic 30 days to decide how to plead. He is to be held in a Dutch detention centre until his hearing. Relatives of the Srebrenica massacre victims watched the alleged mastermind of ethnic cleansing in court. Mr Karadzic's arrest and trial have been front page news in Serbia and Bosnia.
