Some motorists stocked up on fuel as petrol lorry drivers began their four-day walkout. Drivers who work for two companies delivering fuel to UK Shell forecourts have picketed a number of sites. Striking tanker drivers joined picket lines at several Shell sites based at oil terminals, including Stanlow in Merseyside, Avonmouth, Plymouth, Pembroke, Cardiff and Kingsbury. In Tamworth, a Shell tanker driver cheered as another driver was persuaded not to cross the picket line and not to deliver fuel from the Kingsbury Oil Terminal. Striking tanker drivers outside Stanlow Oil Refinery in Cheshire were among hundreds of drivers to take part in the industrial action across the UK. Shell UK has said contingency plans are in place, but some petrol stations could run out of fuel.
