Police were keeping a close eye on the thousands of fans who had gathered at Wembley stadium for the FA Cup final between Cardiff and Portsmouth. Wembley Park Tube station was filled with fans arriving for the game. Both clubs had only won the FA Cup once before in their history. These Cardiff fans got to Wembley early to start showing their support for the "Bluebirds". Portsmouth fans gathered to watch the FA Cup final on a big screen on Southsea Common in Portsmouth. This Cardiff fan showed her allegiance to her team by having a Bluebird painted on her face. The Portsmouth fans in Southsea celebrated their team's goal wildly - and it proved to be the winner. For this dejected fan, the final whistle brought only dreams of what might have been for Cardiff City. At the end of the match it was Portsmouth fans who claimed the spoils, as their team won the 2008 FA Cup.
