The Prince of Wales (centre) visited 80-acre Bodnant Garden in the Conwy Valley, north Wales, on Friday to open a new visitor centre. He stopped to talk to other visitors, including one of the youngest. The National Trust garden has around 150,000 visitors each year. He was shown round by estate manager Michael McLaren (left) and lost no time in asking questions of a fellow gardener. Bodnant Garden is known for its collections of magnolia, camellia, clematis and hydrangea and Prince Charles saw some prize features. The prince finished his visit by planting a tree next to two planted by his parents in 1977 to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
