Soul diva Janet Jackson was besieged by fans as she arrived to present Jessica Alba with the favourite actress prize.

Jason Lee, known to adults as a petty thief in US comedy My Name Is Earl, picked up the best movie prize for his turn as a chipmunk's songsmith in Alvin and the Chipmunks.

The ceremony ended with Jack Black and Orlando Bloom suspended above the auditorium while "27 million gallons" of green slime was unleashed on the 10,000-strong audience.
