Christians around the world have been holding Good Friday services - some re-enacting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In the German town of Bensheim, actors take part in the re-enactment. Devotees in Quito, Ecuador, march for five hours through crowds in the historic old city. Some very devout penitents in the Philippines follow in Christ's footsteps even up to the point of being nailed to a cross. Most Spanish towns and cities hold processions during Holy Week. Here people watch from a window in Cordoba as penitents pass by. New York's Way of the Cross procession brings hundreds of Christians over Brooklyn Bridge to Lower Manhattan. Penitents stand by a statue of Jesus during a Good Friday mass in Goias, Brazil. In Jerusalem, many follow the Via Dolorosa, or Way of Suffering, the route believed to have been taken by Christ to Calvary, a hill outside the walls of the old city. After the crucifixion, Jesus' body is said to have been buried in a cave - which has been covered since the 4th Century by the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem.
