A host of music stars have been inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including Madonna, who was honoured by Justin Timberlake. The surviving members of the Dave Clark Five were inducted by actor Tom Hanks. The British band were one of the successful 1960s US "invasion" bands. Musician Billy Joel introduced singer John Mellencamp, and said the rocker was lucky to still be here. Veteran rock star Iggy Pop was on hand to perform on Madonna's behalf, finishing with a flourish from Like A Virgin. Rock star Joan Jett performed at the ceremony in a tribute to British stars the Dave Clark Five. Canadian inductee Leonard Cohen (r) with Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice, who played in tribute to the gravelly-voiced star. Singer Patti LaBelle gave a "chandelier-shaking rendition" of If You Don't Know Me By Now for honoured songwriters Gamble and Huff.
