Young reporters Ga Yen, Crystal and Laura went to London Fashion Week to investigate why the fashion industry used models that didn't reflect the size and shape of real people.

The 12 and 13-year-olds, who are taking part in the School Report project, discovered that the average woman in the UK is a size 16 while the average catwalk model is a size 6 or 8.

The Clapton Girls Technology College students from Hackney, London, were concerned that many girls are influenced by celebrities' looks and the shape of models on the catwalk.

They asked Hilary Riva, Head of the British Fashion Council, why London Fashion Week hadn't banned size zero models.

She told them they do have a responsibility and do their best to promote healthy looking models.

Swedish model Jessica Stenebo, who started modelling when she was 13 years old, told the School Reporters that there were lots of pressures on models to be thin.

They also interviewed Anna Louise, a former sufferer of anorexia who had been dangerously thin. She told them it had nearly destroyed her life.

The students met lots more interesting people at the event.

The insight into the fashion industry and the size zero issue prompted the School Reporters to comment that being too thin can be as dangerous for your health as obesity.
