Snow has arrived in Scotland and the North East. BBC website users have been sending in pictures. Ben Staley sent this scenic shot from Slaggyford near the Cumbrian border. The bad weather ruined many drivers' plans. Clive Golledge from Crook in County Durham gave up trying to get to Whitley Bay. Others carried on intrepidly through the snow, as witnessed by James Carmichael in York. For Lee Platts's daughter, Rachel, the flurries were her first taste of snow and a chance to create this well-dressed snowman. Tim Emerton from Stockton on Tees took this arty shot of the snow in his garden which forecasters say is unlikely to settle for long. Harry Chown took this chilly scene from his window in Streetlam near Northallerton in North Yorkshire. Aptly-named Jacob Winter from York enjoys his first taste of snow.
