The Queen marked Christmas Day by attending a church service near her Sandringham estate. The Queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, also took part. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November. The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, also came to the service, along with her husband Timothy Laurence. Prince Andrew and his daughter Princess Eugenie accompanied the Queen to St Mary Magdalene's Church. Prince Andrew's other daughter Princess Beatrice accompanied her father. The Queen's grandchildren travelled with her in her car to the church. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall made their way past hundreds of well-wishers waiting to greet them. Prince Edward made the service, though his wife the Countess of Wessex and their new son James remained at the estate. After the service, the Queen received flowers from the crowd, some of whom had been waiting more than three hours.
