The National TV Awards have been held at London's Royal Albert Hall, with Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson winning the special recognition prize. Freema Agyeman and David Tennant were on hand as their show, Doctor Who, won best drama, with Tennant also named top actor. Coronation Street fans would have seen Tina O'Brien's character Sarah getting married on the soap, just before ITV1 screened the awards ceremony. Kelly Brook, who is currently competing in the BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing, presented the best reality show award with dance partner Brendan Cole. Former singer Kym Ryder, who plays Michelle Connor in Coronation Street, took home the gong for best newcomer. Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey in EastEnders, won best actress. She is currently involved in a love triangle in the show and is on the verge of getting married. David Walliams and Matt Lucas presented the award they won last year - best comedy. The actors donned their Lou and Andy costumes for their stage appearance but swapped roles. Best friends Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby accepted an award for Ant and Dec, who were the evening's main winners with three trophies. The X Factor was named best talent show after a phone vote which ended during the ceremony. Sharon Osbourne had recently threatened to quit the series but has returned. EastEnders walked away with the best soap award for the third year running. Top Gear's Richard Hammond was able to collect the award for best factual show after recovering from the crash he endured during a stunt for the BBC Two show last year.
