With minutes to go before they hit Sao Paulo Fashion Week's catwalks, the AfroReggae models were in a confident mood. The Rio-based cultural group is known for its music but was hoping to make its mark in the fashion world. Designer Marcelo Sommer drew on his experiences working in Rio shantytowns to produce a vibrant collection. The stage provided a dramatic and colourful backdrop to the styles on offer. Marcelo Sommer describes his collection as casual, colourful and optimistic. Among the styles there was plenty of beachwear on show - ideal for a group based in Rio de Janeiro. It would not have been an AfroReggae event without music. The show, which drew a standing ovation from the audience, attracted a lot of media interest.
