Snow swept into the Midlands prompting families in Birmingham to don winter clothes and dust down the sledges.

Meanwhile the bull at Birmingham's Bullring was wearing a winter coat of snow.

A blanket of snow has fallen across the West Midlands shutting hundreds of schools and causing major travel problems.
