Hollywood's annual People's Choice Awards are unusual because they are decided by public vote. X-Men star Halle Berry was named favourite female action star. Jennifer Aniston was named best female star at the 33rd People's Choice Awards. She starred in last year's hit romantic comedy The Break-Up. The public's favourite leading man was Vince Vaughn. Aniston's co-star in The Break-Up, Vaughn also co-wrote what he called the "anti-romantic comedy" . Awards are also given for music and television. Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria, with co-star Felicity Huffman, was voted favourite female TV star. After being presented the funny male star award by Halle Berry, Robin Williams said in his acceptance speech: "Thank God for having her wear that dress." The ceremony was hosted by singer and actress Queen Latifah, seen last year in Stranger than Fiction, and heard in Ice Age: The Meltdown. The Holiday star Cameron Diaz was named favourite leading lady at the ceremony, which is one of Hollywood's first events in the awards season leading up to next month's Oscars.
