A plaque was unveiled to film legend Richard Burton in his home village on what would have been his 81st birthday. Burton, who died in 1984, is buried in Switzerland, where he lived at the end of his life. The star, who was the 12th of 13 children, was brought up in the village of Pontrhydyfen in the Afan Valley above Port Talbot. Already successful actor on stage in screen in the UK, Burton went to Hollywood and achieved superstardom in the 1950s. Burton was married five times, twice to fellow screen legend Elizabeth Taylor. Burton was just 58 when he died after a cerebral haemorrhage. He was buried with a copy of the Collected Poems of Dylan Thomas.
