The twenty-fourth annual Golden Joystick Awards are being held in London. The awards are voted for by UK gamers. Strategy title Age of Empires III won best online game. More than half a million gamers voted for their favourite titles. The PlayStation Portable version of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories won "Handheld Game of the Year". The Golden Joysticks are amongst the most prestigious games awards. Bafta award winning Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter took home the Editor's Game of the Year. The awards do not just reward graphical prowess. Categories such as best family game are awarded alongside best soundtrack, won by Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The 17 award categories also reward titles for older consoles. Resident Evil 4 for the PlayStation 2 was voted best game for the 5 year old console. Fantasy game Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion swept the board at this year's ceremony. The visual treat won three Golden Joysticks including top prize, Ultimate Game of the Year.
